Project names you create in LinkWare™ Live then sync to a tester
The project name and each subproject name from LinkWare Live show on the tester as Project Name>>Subproject Name with the tester's limit of 30 characters, including the symbol ">>". When your project and subproject names have 29 characters together, you cannot enter more characters for the project or subproject name.
If the tester has an unsynced project with the same name as a project in LinkWare Live, then synced test results go into that project in LinkWare Live.
Note: Project names are case-sensitive. For example, if a LinkWare Live account has a project named "City Plaza", and you create a project named "CITY PLAZA" on your tester then sync it to that account, LinkWare Live puts the results in a new project named "CITY PLAZA".
Project names you create on a tester then sync to LinkWare Live
- If the project name on the tester already exists in LinkWare Live, then the test results are added to that project in LinkWare Live.
- If the project does not exist in LinkWare Live, then LinkWare Live creates a new project with that name.
- You cannot create subprojects on the tester. If you use the format Project Name>>Subproject Name to enter names on the tester, then sync the project to LinkWare Live, LinkWare Live will use all of the names as the project name.
What happens if I rename a project that has been synced?
If you rename a synced project on the tester or in LinkWare Live, and the project has the Active status in LinkWare Live, the SYNC PROJECTS screen on the tester shows both names in the format Project Name on Tester -> Project Name in LinkWare Live. After you sync, the project's name on the tester changes to the name used in LinkWare Live.
LinkWare Live identifies projects by their ID number. When you create a project in LinkWare Live or sync a project created on a tester, LinkWare Live gives the project a unique, hidden ID number. This ID does not show in the project information you see in LinkWare Live or on the tester. The project's ID does not change if you rename the project. LinkWare Live uses this ID, not the project name, to identify synced projects.
